UniGreenScheme @ Lab Innovations 2024

We always enjoy attending Lab Innovations at The NEC in Birmingham and this year was no exception! A fantastic turn out from all the big players in the lab and science world along with smaller start ups, independents, and cogs in the supply chain it was amazing to see everything that was on offer from tiny vials to complex systems.

Kindly hosted by Andy Evans of Green Light Laboratories Limited we were in the Sustainable Lab area along with Flowzaics and Bright Instruments Limited, we had a fantastic 2 days meeting attendees, fellow exhibitors and catching up with old friends.

Andy was on top form, giving his regular talks on the stand and playing a fun game ranking the energy efficiency of lab equipment. An engaging and passionate speaker, if you see him as a speaker on an event line up make sure you attend his session! With prizes on offer competition was fierce! Congratulations to all the winners and we hope everyone walked away with a little more knowledge. We know more about energy efficiency and best practices for the use of lab fridges and freezers, drying cabinets and flow hoods than we did on the Wednesday morning! Andy is THE man when it comes to lab sustainability. Since 2009 he has been breaking new ground in lab sustainability and his company, Green Light Laboratories Limited, offers a range of services including audits, procurement, policy and training to ensure that any lab can deliver significant running cost savings through all of their day to day activities. Please get in touch with him to find out more and how you can make your lab more sustainable (and save you some money!).

We had a great time catching up with the Restore Harrow Green Laboratory Relocations and Services team! We have worked with Restore on over 100 jobs this year and meeting the team face to face was a refreshing change compared to our normal digital correspondence. We look forward to building more on this relationship and had some very constructive and interesting chats with the team, who also handily had an on stand barista which we took full advantage of! If you are moving your lab we would highly recommend their services, a fantastic and professional team who will go above and beyond to make sure your move goes as smoothly as possible.

We really enjoyed meeting everyone who stopped by and took the time to speak to the UniGreenScheme team. We really appreciate the enthusiasm for and interest in our service and hope we can build on these new connections in the near future. Sustainability is growing in importance across labs and we would love to help as many of you as possible to reach your sustainability goals and find new life for your surplus or redundant equipment or if you are looking for good quality, used equipment for your lab we have over 3,500 items in stock! Check out our website for our full user guide and shop for full details of our collection and resale services.

Taking the opportunity to walk around when we had chance, Calibre Scientific's stand was hard to miss with it's Tron-Star Wars-Blade Runner lighting scheme and it's no surprise that they won 'Best Stand' of the show! IKA on the other hand took a more demure but still striking approach.

With talks from industry leaders around the show and dynamic stands there was something for everyone. The Whack-a-Molecule game on the Scientific Laboratory Supplies stand probably didn't have a break for the whole 2 days of the show!

We hope your visit to Lab Innovations was as interesting and useful for you as it was for us! A very busy 2 days for our team and all too soon it was time to pack up and head back to Caerphilly, but we had an absolute blast and would like to extend our thanks to everyone who came by to chat with out team, it was a pleasure to meet you! Special thanks to Andy for hosting us, all the staff from Easy Fairs, Lab Innovations and The NEC and our fellow exhibitors who made the event possible and so fantastic! See you same time next year!
